So toll bridge in Port Huron to Canada $3 US or Canadian. I use all of my Canadian currency just before the border except for $3 that I"m going to use to pay the toll. Get to the bridge and apparently it costs $3.50 when you're going the other way. WTF?

Also thanks Obama. A cheeseburger in Canada? $18. Back when I could get $15 CDN for my $10 US that wouldn't be so bad. Now since it is almost $1-$1 it sucks. I blame Obama. He was going to fix things. All he's done is suck and spy on me. Just like he's spying on this post. I nearly exploded when I saw the menu prices at TGI Friday's. It was like they nuked my wallet on this trip. I figured things would cost roughly the same since hotels were roughly the same. Instead it was like a bomb went off and our vacation went from affordable to holy crap I can go to Hawaii for this much money.

The toll thing makes sense. Famously, the Severn Crossing between England and South Wales is only a toll-route when you're trying to get out of Wales.

Ah yes, the BWB. Many a day was spent cruising under that in my teen years.

"Get to the bridge and apparently it costs $3.50 when you're going the other way"

Yup. That's why tons of Canadians go to the US all the time for products.

Now you learned that you should have gone to Hawaii. . . At least you know that now. Also $18 for a fucking burger? that is fucking silly.

Insidious plot to keep the Welsh out of the rest of GB, or just a reflection of nobody wanting to be in Wales?

Everything is way more expensive in canada, even cars that are made in canada and exported to the US. But over here you can say Thanks Harper.

Then just to make things even more expensive you add our provincial sales taxes and our federal sales taxes, then if you also factor in our provincial and federal income taxes. After all that we are left with close to nothing.

The latter. It's not impossible to get from Wales to England without paying the toll, but if you're in a hurry...

No-one's in that much of a hurry to get into Wales.

Yeah. It's only going to get worse here in ontario especially. Our debt went up by $3B in the last two years.

Yeah we're not even talking some specialty burger. A cheese burger at TGI Fridays is $18. A basket of chicken fingers and fries is $15.

Yeah if I lived on the border I would cross the border every time I needed to fill my gas tank. $5.30 a gallon in Canada vs. $3.89 on the US side of the border.

Sounds about right. I made sure to fill er up on my way back from DC right before I got to the border.

That is expensive. Most burgers aren't 18 dollars here, usually like 11-13.

The border toolbooths are pretty good about accepting whatever currency you want to throw at them. At least they were last summer when I went through.

Could have been the location, which is fine, but most burgers here are $7-$9.

Nope. They said you're not allowed to mix currency (I knew that from the posted signs when I entered canada.) I tried to give the guy a mixture and he said nope.

Yeah, the border toll booths are funny like that. What you can do is mix 'Murican change with your Canadian change at just about any other shop/resutrant/gas station/anywhere in the entire country. You don't have to be near the border to do that, can do anywhere.

The exception proves the rule: The Ford F-150.

US Base Price for an XL Regular Cab 4x2? $25,025. In Canada? CA$18,000. Which is about $16,592.92

So now if you want to discuss compendia of suck, you come to the most asked question of the political age.

Who's worse: Obama or Harper?

The real question you should ask is why the Americans are so damn stupid to pay $25K for something that is sold for the rough equivalent of $16.5K elsewhere.

Hmm, I guess that's what I was thinking of. Change they definitely let you mix elsewhere. They are also more accepting of mixed change in near-border northern cities like Burlington VT, Buffalo NY, Sault Ste Marie MI, etc.

Unless your family already looks like Stephen Harper, in which case the economic stagnation from the US makes the DC leadership (All of it!) even more incompetent than Harper could ever hope to be.

But...you'd still be wrong.

In fact, the real winner of the comparison of suck is Pauline Marois. Sucked so much that the Liberals are now in charge of the QC provincial government.

Plus, if you get an Rick Mercer fake CBC Kids show, you really ought to re-examine what you are doing.

Don't get me started on Adolf Marois!

Funny thing about harper and obama, is that harper is trying to make canada more like the US, and Obama, the US more like canada.

I don't get your Rick Mercer kid show thing? I may be Canadian, but I don't watch canadian TV

Here's the Marois one.

Rick makes fake commericals for kids TV shows that lampoon various politicians.

Here's the Tony Clement one.

And one for Harper himself.
